Our crispy Sauvignon Blanc is made from a blend of both high and lower altitude vines to produce a premium quality wine with a subtle fusion of grassy and tropical flavours. The Chardonnay, produced from lower altitude vines for the best low yield and golden ripe grapes, provides a lingering fullness and lengthy palate.
The youthful Domaine is an unwooded blend of cultivars and the full-bodied Pinotage is an expression of plums and blackberries. The first commercial planting of Pinotage in the world was in the Bottelary area.
Cabernet Sauvignon comes from lower altitude vines to offer full flavours. Our Merlot is the product of deep, moisture-retaining Hutton soils. The fruity Shiraz, planted on an average altitude of 280m, creates a hint of spices. All our red wines are slowly fermented in open vats.
Our Approach to Making Icon Wines
Although we support our wine making with modern technology, we strive to stay as close as possible to Mother Nature. We are motivated by our passion for people, wine and nature. Taste our handcrafted wines and experience this passion
GOEDE HOOP ESTATE
Goede Hoop Wine Estate is situated off the old road between the towns of Stellenbosch and Kuils River, deep in the valley known as the Bottelary Kloof. The old farmhouse, rich in atmosphere, was built in 1880. In 1928 the Bestbier family purchased the wine estate and today Pieter Bestbier is a third generation winemaker on Goede Hoop.
